GameMaker Spotlight: Ruin of the Reckless

Posted by Shaun Spalding on 5 October 2016

When we can, we like to take some time to highlight some of the awesome projects being developed with GameMaker. In addition to our showcase full of excellent games, this gives us a chance to draw extra attention to games we think are particularly special. This time it's Ruin of the Reckless from Faux-Operative Games!

The game is a fast-paced action rogue-like with a melee combat emphasis. Players of Nuclear Throne and Hyper Light Drifter (Both excellent GameMaker powered titles) will feel at home here, but Ruin of the Reckless turns many of the dials up to eleven with super fast and energetic play, relentless enemy hordes and crazy powerful (often explosive) attacks. The game makes its own mark on the genre and is a flavour we haven't seen a lot of before.

You might be familiar with the game already if you've seen our guest tech blog on their unique silhouettes implementation. They also just held a very successful Kickstarter campaign, raising over $17500.

The game isn't yet available to buy, but if it looks like your sort of thing then you should follow the developers and sign up for their mailing list over at the game's website.

We're always on the lookout for new, exciting GameMaker titles to shout about. Let us know about your upcoming game and you could appear in our showcase or even be in our next spotlight!
